Punk’d

While not as cliché as covering Napalm Death, most grind bands are pretty cognizant of the debt they owe to classic punk rock—I’m not talking about the increasingly metalicized hardcore we think of today, but the snotty gutter rock of the ’70s and ’80s. So, the only response to hearing Unholy Grave Engrish their way through the Ramones’ “Beat on the Brat” on Grind Killers is a healthy, “Fuck Yeah!” In that spirit, here’s their rendition and eight other punk-inflected grind moments for your pleasure.
Enjoy.

D-Compose—“I Am Not Jesus” (Ramones)
Brutal Truth—“Media Blitz” (Germs)
Collision—“Attitude” (Bad Brains)
Exit-13—“A Man and His Lawnmower” (Dead Kennedys, slightly renamed)
Resistant Culture—“Hear Nothing, See Nothing, Say Nothing” (Discharge)
Unholy Grave—“Beat on the Brat” (Ramones)
Hemdale—“Rise Above” (Black Flag)
Nasum—“Rio de San Atlanta, Manitoba” (Propagandhi)
The Parallax View—“Filler” (Minor Threat)
