Weekend Punk Pick: Blondie

One of punk's finest drummers wrapped up in one of New Wave's worst suits. Don't you dare talk shit about Blondie. Deborah Harry and guitarist Chris Stein had sex in CBGB's infamously disgusting bathroom. That's way more punk than your shitty garage band's split 7-inch with Agathocles. Stein also had a unique finger picked style that you didn't see in any other punk band. In fact, Blondie was my soundtrack when the time came to sit down and actually write Compiling Autumn. Them and Adele. Go ahead, rip me to shreds.

Now you're talking my language.

Those still unaware that Hanging on the Telephone is a cover should listen to the original by The Nerves pronto.

I would think after videodrome there would be no questioning of deborah harry's tr00ness. Also, I wonder how long its going to take before there is a backlash from Agathocles. Maybe they'll try and top themselves with a thousand way split of microsongs.

Anyway, isn't adele the sappy piano ballad lady that I keep hearing in the cafeteria at Mills? If so, there will be no ripping on my part, admitting that you like things outside the spectrum of extreme music is totally healthy and I wish people would be more honest about it.

she is but i'm obsessed with her production. there's something about the way they layer together a bunch of simple instruments that i just found absolutely compelling. plus my wife is an old style jazz/blues junkie so it's unavoidable around our house. it balances out the blastbeats.

I hear you. I have a pretty big variety in my listening that borders on schizophrenic (predictable, no?). I'm not sure what my guilty pleasures are, but I guess a lot of people wouldn't be into all the bad thrash metal I like...

she has a great voice, but jesus Andrew. That remix of her big song is atrocious, I hope that's your jam.

By bad thrash, I hope you're not referring to Chaos AD sepultura and on.

lately - i can't stop listening to a couple of vancouver trendsetters, and i guess it would be mildly embarrassing, if i thought anyone on the planet had better musical tastes than me - which no one does so. yay me.
